Can Windows be made to search for driver updates for ALL devices?

As you may know, the views expressed here in several such threads on other 3rd party driver update tools is... don't use them.

Then there are peripheral devices which may not be supported by WU at all...

Another question to consider is whether there is any actual perceived benefit in updating something without there being a clear need to do so.

Windows updates to the latest stable driver, just to get it working and then it does not care anymore, even-though the new driver might improve performance, fix issues and security vulnerabilities. Particularly talking about RealtekLAN driver, 1903 by default offers the one from 2015, though the latest one is from 2019. Like someone complained, that his LAN is running 700/300Mbps instead of 1/1TB and that driver fixed that.


Not sure, why people are afraid of 3rd party driver updaters, they actually do, what MS does not, besides it is not really Microsoft's job to do it. Instead of installing a dozen of them, from every manufacturer, you simply install just one. There are no malicious and they all offer WHQL drivers, it is not like you can even install unsigned drivers in 10 anyway. At worst, they might install the wrong driver, which can be easily rolled back, some even create system restore points. I use Driver Easy just to detect the new drivers, instead of tediously searching the web and then I simply download them from http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com
