I removed a 3TB Seagate HD from its external box as I wanted to use it internally. Have done this 3 or 4 trimes before with no problems (yeah, warranty, sure...); this was sort of surplus to requirements. However, on installing internally, it is now no longer 3TB, but 746.52Gb!
Anyone? No room to expand it in Disk Management - what happened?

Have you tried to update the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver?
In some cases, the connection method may be the culprit. You can try to connect it via different methods. Try both USB and SATA. Good luck!
I shall try that. No luck with any of the suggestions made so far. Watch this space!

You must try all solutions. In fact most users' problem on this count was solved by updating the RST drivers. My fault that I did not emphazise it, but am glad to note that Yvette222 sounded the bugle.
If your system uses RST driver find out what version it is and update it to the latest version.
