Hi, work for a small bank. New pc, print to serial passbook printer using USB to serial adapter. Printer will work and then user signs off, next user will not be able to print passbook. Reseat usb connector, now printer works. Tried USB 2.0 and 3.0. Updated all drivers on machine. No help. Any suggestions? Happens on different machine, not just one user or machine.
If different user accounts, the printer needs to be set up for all user accounts. If only a single user account to sign into the computer but not for getting into the Passbook account, you may want to consult with whomever handles IT for the bank and have them look into it.
I would be suspect of the Serial adapter since you said that if you unplug and plug back in it works for the next user.
Does windows see the serial adapter and install a driver for the first user, when it is working?
Then when the second user signs in do you see this driver?
What happens if you scan for hardware in device manager?
