External Hd Drive randomly disconnecting and not connecting on reboot

Ever since I upgraded to Windows 10 1903 my Seagate Backup Plus has started to randomly disconnect and sometimes it's not connected on a reboot. I unplug the Seagate and plug it back in and it show right up. Before upgrading to 1903 I was on Win 10 1809 and never had any of these hard drive connect and disconnect issues. Has anyone else out there experienced this? Any known fixes? I checked the driver version I had and it was 10.0.18632.1 provided by Microsoft and the driver date was 6/21/2006. I had an earlier sound driver issue since I wasn't getting any sound after the update. If I hit update driver thru device manager it said there were no updates. However I did find and updated drivers manually and I have sound again. Would the same theory hold true for external hard drive drivers?

Seems odd that the problem would happen only after upgrading to 1903. But here are a couple of things to check / try.

First, is there anything at all of use in the Windows Event Log at the time of disconnection?

Have you tried another USB cable? If the cable is a couple of feet long, try a shorter cable if that is possible. I've seen cables that are not well shielded or constructed act "flaky" or unreliable at longer lengths, even when within acceptable length limits.

Finally, if you have available a USB 2 port (I'm assuming you are using USB 3+), try plugging into that to see if the problem remains. NOTE: That's only meant to be a test, not a permanent solution.

I deleted the driver and reinstalled and restarted it a few times. I was ok for a while but after the 3rd or 4th restart the drive didn't appear when the computer restarted. I did notice that if the computer hangs up a bit on the restart the drive won't show it. When there is no hang up when pc is restarted the drive does appear. I started copying off 4 TB of data last nite and as of this morning it was still connected and transferring.
