    NTFS vs NTFS 3.1

Out of curiosity only: what is the difference between just 'NTFS' and 'NTFS 3.1'
Maybe there is none, I don't know.

A system tool reports a drive with NTFS and another drive with NTFS 3.1
BTW - Windows Diskmgmt show NTFS only

    All drives are working fine.

    thanks.

    I know...
Vainly searched for an answer there (I might be overlooking it though), hence the question here.

On the Wikipedia page, click "versions" (entry 2 in the table of contents). The claim is that NTFS has been at version 3.1 since Windows XP (October 2001).

There appears to be no such thing as NTFS with no version number.

    What tool?

Sector size is different - perhaps it is just reporting the name differently for some spurious reason based on that.

Wikipedia or Microsoft’s Tech articles are your best resources. That is how all of us have found this info.

NTFS has always had a version number but it is rarely shown. The most recent version is 3.1 and that was released with XP. Vista OS added some file system features but they were built on top of NTFS and not a part of it. My guess is that the driver fo disk #1 reported the version while the other did not.

Thank you. Well, indeed, that will probably be the reason.
As said, it was/is just curiosity. I coincidentally stumbled over this.
