WD Elements 1TB External not working in USB 3.0

I have WD Elements 1TB external drive, it has a USB 3.0 Supported cable.
Whenever I plug it in my USB 2.0 port, it works fine but in USB 3.0 port, constant white led is there and doesn't blink. The device manager shows it as not connected and doesn't appear in Disk Management either.
I have Gigabyte B450M-DS3H motherboard and it's brand new.
Please help me solve this problem, USB 2 speeds are pathetic

We need to try to isolate where the problem is:

Is it the cable, the port, the HD?

First, do you have any other USB 3 devices that use the same type of cable. If so, try using this cable with that device. If it works, then the cable is probably good.

Likewise, if you have another USB 3 cable of the same type, try it with this HD. Does it work?

Next, make sure to try other USB 3 ports (if available) on the same system.

Finally, Do you have another computer available with USB 3 ports that you could test this drive and cable with?

If I had to venture a guess, I would guess that the cable is the most likely point of failure. I have a USB 3 device (not a HD), that behaved the same way. Worked on USB 2, but not 3. Turned out to be the cable that it came with.

Do other USB 3.0 devices work in that port? If not, check the connections of the lead between the PC's USB connector and the motherboard.

Thanks for your replies. I plugged the hdd in my laptop and it didn't show up either.
My USB 3 ports were working fine since other devices like Mouse and Keyboard were working in it.
So I got myself a new cable and it works great now!

Disconnect any other 3.0 or 3.1 devices and try to reconnect on any of the 3.1 ports you
have on that Board (specs say 4). try it in each of those ports With a different cable if you can.
As Steve C says check to see if the ports are working with another device (a drive , phone etc)
and not just for power charging.
In Device Manager check to see if there is a problem (probably under usb devices)
with your usb 3.0 and 3.1 drivers.
