White blotches arranged linearly on the laptop screen

I am having weird white spots on my laptop in the last few days. These white blotches are arranged linearly at along the lower one-third of the screen. They don't appear if I connect my laptop via HDMI to another screen. They are clearly visible on a white background and extremely difficult to notice on any other dark background or even grey background.

My laptop never fell and no-one hard pressed the screen. It has always remained at my table in the past one week before which there were no such blotches. What has gone wrong? I bough it in March 2019.

Hi, you don't say what sort of laptop it is. Clearly in warranty if needed, though.
For example, my Lenovo has a diagnostics utility which includes a simple screen test.

You can try a freeware screen test utility
Dead Pixel Tester | Data Product Services Ltd.
    more complex:
Download Monitor Test Utility - MajorGeeks

Do you see any display problems when in Safe Mode?
(In safe mode, the display driver is a basic MS driver)

Safe mode was also displaying the same blotches.

I went to the service centre. They replaced my screen with a new one. My laptop is Acer Nitro 5- AN515-52

Thought that's what would happen. Thanks for letting us know.

Looks like it is a backlighting issue from the repair. Take it back to where you got it repaired and have them fix it.
