IOGEAR GUCE64 - not wanting to work

Hello. I recently upgraded from Windows 7 (RIP, it was a good decade) to Windows 10 via clean install and all has been going fairly well so far. Until I decided to set up a new project. I wanted to set up a remote control station for the PC in another part of my house. I managed to split my HDMI and send it over Cat6 downstairs no problem. I also got a IOGEAR GUCE64 4-port USB over Cat6 extender (powered). In theory, it should have been plug-and-play. But that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Windows 10 is giving me an error, "Unknown USB Device - Device Descriptor Request Failed" when I try to find the extender/hub in Device Manager. IOGEAR doesn't have drivers available on their website and I have an email out to them with no response. I was wondering if any of the kind folks here might be able to help me figure this out?

A bit more info: the reason for the USB extender is simply for a mouse and keyboard. I've tried three different keyboards on it, wired and wireless, and none are working on the extender (but are working if plugged directly into the PC). The USB extender has its own dedicated Cat6 line, and that line has been tested working properly.

First is to bring it up to where the computer is and try it there. How old is this Hub Extender? It has a three year warranty. https://www.iogear.com/product/GUCE64/

It could be very simple if you find out that it works on a short patch cord and not the current one.

Thank you for this suggestion! The short patch worked right away, which prompted me to take a closer inspection of the Cat6 line (I had only tone tested it previously) and notice that I had two of the wires backwards in the remote end. Snipped it off, put a new end on, and I was in business! Thank you! :)
