USB Notification icon gone from the Taskbar

How to get the USB Notification back in the task bar notification ?

I am certain this has something to do with the frigged new updates, but I have no idea where to begin to correct this new MS10 FUP once again! Please advice. Thanks a bunch.

    NOTE:
I discovered this occured not long after the update of May update 1809, 17763.503

All of my USB connection to external hard drives , Android devices etc.. are working fine.
The old reference is no longer USB notification as it shows in the icon taskbar list it shows as "Windows Explorer"

Depending on your exact problem, and noting the tray icon is only present if you have a device plugged in:

I would suggest checking the task bar settings to start with. Right-click the task bar and select the very bottom option 'Taskbar Settings' then look for the blue/purple lettered option 'Choose which icons appear in notification area'. The safely remove hardware option should be among those options. Hope this helps, but in an attempt to be a tad bit more helpful, see the following screen shot:

    Some suggestions:
Right click start & choose run enter "rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll" without the quotes.Choose a drive to eject, once ejected icon should return.
    • Press keyboard "win + R"• Type "regedit"• Search the value "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Notifications\Settings\Microsoft.Explor er.Notification.{...}"• If you REG_DWORD 0x00000001(0) set "0" you can double click on value. Set the value data to "1"• Click "OK"

Step 1. Go to > Settings > PrivacyStep 2. App Permissions > Background Apps.Toggle ‘Let apps run in the background’ switch to off. Restart computer. (action center not showing previously or new notifications)Step 3. Go back to the settings page, previously mentioned in step 1 and 2.Toggle the ‘Let apps run in the background’ switch to on, as described in Step 2.Restart once again. Action Center is now showing notifications. As well as the "Safe to remove" pop-up for flash drives without issues.Information from user Geosammy On here.

Safe to remove is no longer a issue with the changes made to Windows to allow Quick removal.

    - which is the default from build 1809 (but can be set to not apply of course- see trade-offs mentioned in article).

Whichever is set- Better Performance or Quick Removal - the tray icon should appear if a USB storage device is connected.
