Why does Windows update install intel media drivers

First time I'm seeing these two updates pushed. I'm not using any Intel GPU.
Why does Windows update push these?

That's odd. Do you have an Intel CPU that has integrated graphics? Even if you are not currently using the Intel graphics, is it possible that this is what the drivers are for?

That chip is disabled in BIOS. I uninstalled the Intel graphics drivers using DDU. Windows update doesn't offer me them again. Weird.

Figured this bizarre issue it out, finally. Come round, come round, let me tell you the story.

I had just re-seated my GPU yesterday (took it out, cleaned dust from it, put it back in - taking care of my hardware, you know), but I forgot to attach the power connectors to it on my first boot. Screen stayed black, I looked at the GPU, immediately saw wat I forgot, went "duh", and shut down the PC.

Apparently, in that first startup, the Intel Graphics Chip became active (because no discrete, PCI-based GPU detected, according to BIOS), and even without logging in to Windows, this queued the Intel drivers to be installed. Even after restarting using my proper GPU (GTX 1070ti), the Intel drivers were still in the WU queue, even though the device they were for (Intel HD Graphics 530) was long gone in subsequent reboots :)

I verified this scenario, just for shits & giggles, by booting my PC without power to the GPU, and indeed, this is how it went down.

I used DDU to wipe the Intel drivers, problem gone :)
