Hi I have a similar problem I'm running Windows 10 on a dell Inspiron 5521 and I have updated all my drivers but I get a faint static noise when listening to any audio with my earphones. It's really annoying. What else can I do?

Buy an earphone with USB input. USB is much less noisier than the audio output of a laptop.

I am currently going to buy a usb to audio dongle/port to use audio. But this static noise shouldn't occur and I have a feelings it's Windows 10 and not the motherboard/audio port

I just found a solution to an issue with streaming audio after about a year of frustration. This may be different than the original post on this thread. My sound was experiencing dropouts and distortion whenever I was browsing. I tried different browsers, different streaming apps, and lots of other things. Solution was to update the driver to my wireless network adapter. In my case that is an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC8260. I tried this after finding a solution to the same problem that involved a Realtek network adapter. When I updated I got a "successfully installed" message but I had to restart before it worked. Good luck.

    Static Noise - Solved!

If you don't have the latest IDT audio driver, download it here: Drivers Software - HP Support Center.

Someone on the Microsoft Forums also suggested this:
    1. Select IDT High Definition Audio CODEC on Device Manager.
    2. Select Driver tab.
    3. Click Update Driver... button.
    4. Select -> Browse my computer for driver software.
    5. Select -> Let me pickup a list of device drivers on my computer.
    6. Select High Definition Audio Device (Not IDT High Def... this is important.) and click Next.
Appears Warning message, but reply Yes.
    7. ! Windows has successfully update your driver software.
This worked like a charm! Thanks!!! I have an older Dell Studio Laptop running windows 10. Audio had cut out completely and upon restarting twice, would get static or white noise any time audio would play. Did a search and found this forum post. Cannot thank you enough!
