    Epson XP-245 printer issues

    Hi,.
I've just got a new machine, and it has a fresh install of Win10 (my old PC was a Win7 upgrade to Win10). Overall its working much better, but there is one issue that is driving me nuts.

When I print out on my Epson Xp-245 from Adobe Acrobat, it gets a little down the page, and then just stops. I can still see it in the print queue (no errors - it says its still running). The printer just seems to have other ideas though.

The weird part is that I can print the same PDF absolutely fine if I use Chrome to open . So thats a temporary solution, but not something I want to do in the long run.
I've checked my drivers and they all say they are up to date. Win10 updates are all complete as well.
Any other ideas on what I could try?

    TIA
    Andy

Just as an update. I tried using another PDF reader, and it has the exact same problem. Very odd seeing as Adobe worked fine on my old machine with the same printer.

Where did you get the driver from? What printer language it is using PCL, PS, something propietary from Epson?

Thanks for the reply. It was the download direct from Epson's site. I also installed the "Epson Connect" so that it can do the email printing as well.

I'm afraid I'm not sure what you mean about the PCL/PS ?

    Thanks

Those are languages used by printers to render pages.

    Printer Command Language (PCL).
    Adobe's Postscript.

Did you try getting a driver directly from Windows Update?. It might be different than the one provided by Epson site, but it could work. You can have both, by the way.

Ah ok - how would I find out?

Windows updates come up as up-to-date, and when I tried to update the driver (in device manager), it says its using the latest one.

Interestingly, it just came up with an alert that the yellow had run out. I've replaced it, and it printed out the last one just fine. I'd be amazed if that fixed it, but weirder things have happened! (especially seeing as it was always printing fine for the first bit, and then stopping part way through a page)

It could well be if you are printing in colour or some sort of grayscale "emulation" using colour cartridges.

Hmm well it prints fine now (not had the problem in a couple of days). Seems weird, as I never (ever) had the problem on my old computer with Win10 + the same drivers. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it happens again

    Cheers
