on laptop, plug in mouse ok, unplug mouse then no track pad control

I find I have to reboot, then unplug mouse to gain track pad control again. Is that normal?
It would be much better to be able to unplug mouse, then control reverts to trackpad without a reboot.

Please check what trackpad driver has been installed. I've seen the the wrong driver be installed, as in wrong make.

Might be an idea to see if vendor has specific driver for trackpad device.

Is your machine set to disable pad when you connect mouse?

Dont know about a setting to disable, I did not change anything.
If a mouse is plugged in, the trackpad becomes disabled. Then if the mouse is unplugged, the trackpad is still disabled. How do you run software for trackpad, not sure what that would be. Notebook is an ASUS q525ua.

Still not clear what is the normal response to doing those things. On linux, both mouse and trackpad (think so) remain active at same time. I know on linux, you can have more than one mouse working both together at same time, when both remain plugged into their usb ports..

Unfortunately this setting can be located in different places, not sure why but must be vendor related.

If you open settings, click on devices, then click on Touchpad. Here you may find a setting to disable touchpad if mouse connected.

If not there click on mouse, left hand column. Check page on right, if not there then click on "Additional Mouse Setting"

Last tab on mine with a Synaptic Touchpad is Touchpad with their logo. First box where you can add remove check mark is the option to disable Touchpad when USB device connected.

In all these scenarios I would allow touchpad to be active when mouse connected, as a test. I will note if you use a wireless mouse shutting off the mouse will not engage touchpad. On a logitec M510 you must remove the the little dongle to enable touchpad.

Asus has a driver on their web page for your touchpad. V11.0.18. You might also try loading that driver and confirm it took.
