    How do install an additional TAP-Windows adapter?

    I have two hosts that I connect to using VPN. One uses OpenVPN, the other uses Watch Guard's Mobile VPN. I have one TAP-Windows adapter which works for either connection, but I would like to have both connections open concurrently.

    How do I install another adapter? OpenVPN's site shows how to install one, but when I try it I get "tapinstall failed".

    Windows does it automatically when a Hyper-machine or VPN are created. You can only have one active at a time with TAP d3vic3s. Open up Device Manager and click to show Hidden Devices. Then go to Network adapters. IPv6 does need to be enabled for TAP to work.

    I'm curious. I found these notes in the OemWin2k.inf file that was installed with the WatchGuard VPN.

    Note to Developers:
    ;
    ; If you are bundling the TAP-Win32 driver with your app,
    ; you should try to rename it in such a way that it will
    ; not collide with other instances of TAP-Win32 defined
    ; by other apps. Multiple versions of the TAP-Win32
    ; driver, each installed by different apps, can coexist
    ; on the same machine if you follow these guidelines.
    ; NOTE: these instructions assume you are editing the
    ; generated OemWin2k.inf file, not the source
    ; OemWin2k.inf.in file which is preprocessed by winconfig
    ; and uses macro definitions from settings.in.

    I am not a developer, I have no app that that this note might refer to. I am a user, have one TAP adapter and it is used by both OpenVPN and WatchGuard, but only one at a time.

    If multiples can exist, I'm hoping by creating a second adapter I can have concurrent connections to separate hosts.
