    Laptop doesn't wake from sleep

Today I had to leave the house (I went biking yay), so I opened the power menu from the Windows button, and selected the option for my Dell Inspiron i5577 laptop to "Sleep." I come back later, hit the power button to turn the laptop on, and lo and behold, the power button light turns on. There is absolutely no power to the display of my laptop. My "gaming" mouse's rgb backlight is off, but whenever I click it, the rgb light comes on. It stays on as long as I hold the left or right click. My external monitor says there is no input from my laptop. I hold the power button down until the light on the power button turns off. I wait for a few seconds and then hold the power button to boot my laptop. I strongly believe it's due to no power going to the SSD when it comes back from sleep. It works fine now, but I do not understand what caused this and does this damage my laptop's hardware?

Please see the video if you don't understand what I'm saying above -
View: help please ? - bugged out laptop - YouTube

Important info - the SSD is a PM961 NVMe SAMSUNG SSD. INTERFACE - PCIe Gen. 3x4. TRIM status - Enabled. NVMe Driver - Samsung. RAPID Mode - Not supported. I can't seem to find any official drivers off of Samsung's website; the SSD isn't even listed there. I have found some other "unofficial" drivers but they're outdated or don't give enough information about the driver update.

Video description - i strongly believe that it's due to a software bug because an update from Dell's website for my laptop model to update the SSD and the update notes stated -

"Fixes: - Fixed the blue screen or system hang due to DRAM data corruption

Enhancement: - Improvements to Data Recovery" from the Intel SSDSCKKF180/256/360/512H6DN and SSDSC2KF256/360/512H6DN Series Solid State Drive Firmware Update.

    Another update notes lists -

"Fixes: - Fixes the issue where the system is unable to exit from sleep mode as the solid-state drive (SSD) stops responding Enhancement: - N/A" from the TOSHIBA KSG60ZSE256/512G and KSG60ZMV256/512G Series Solid State Drive Firmware Update.

as you can see, I believe the Toshiba drive update is more based on my issue. however, the SSD that came in my laptop was a Samsung SSD, so the installation doesn't go through.

Note - if you're going to reply, please don't reply once and never reply again. yes I've tried updating all the drivers but Dell makes it insanely hard to update so I may have missed an update. I don't want anything to do with Dell software as well. thanks.

Have you tried pulling the battery and power to see if that works? Also replacing the CMOS battery is a way of troubleshooting, along with removing RAM and the hard drive, then reseating.

It's in the laptop, and it's on the charger. I can't just go in the laptop and unplug it; it's not that easy. And again, I believe it's a software issue and not on hardware. Please read the original post.

I noticed that you say Dell is offering an update for the wrong hardware type. Check Dell Drivers & downloads again using your Dell Service Tag to avoid that problem.

They might also offer a Bios update.

When you do that, keep in mind your earlier comment "Dell makes it insanely hard to update" and let me know if you still feel like that despite checking using your Dell Service Tag. I have been using this hateful computer maker for years and am used to coping with their awkwardness in listing updates so I might be able to help you.

Thanks for the support, it really means a lot to me. I just checked the website with my service code and there was a BIOS update to 1.1.2, but it wasn't listed last I checked without the service code. Crossing my fingers this could have potentially fixed my issue.

    - - - Updated - - -

I'm looking through a lot of the updates for my specific service tag and notice a lot more recent updates for my laptop. Hmmmm.

    Osly,

Actually I was expecting you to say there was at least a display driver update as well so your 2nd para does not surprise me.

By display driver update, it's the same thing as a video driver update right? There is only one listed, and it's the "nVIDIA Geforce GT1050 Graphics Driver" update from Nov. 2018. I've installed newer ones from nVidia's website.

Almost forgot, you have to check the version number instead of the entry in the Last updated column.
    - Using Last updated will not do you any harm but does mean you'll 'install' updates you already have.
    - Last updated seems to be meaningless. It might be the date the update's info page was last updated.
    - I keep a set of folders containing all the latest updates listed by version number so I can quickly check if I need anything on offer.

If your nVidia "display" drivers [yes, or "video" drivers] have always worked for you in the past then I cannot see any reason they would be a problem now but you could try simply reinstalling the existing one from nVidia just to bowl out the notion that it has become corrupted.
