Increase SSD space from separate physical drive?

    Hey guys.

I'd like to know if it is at all possible to give my SSD more space from a separate physical hard disk? I want to try and increase my SSD partition (as it's only a 120GB total SSD) by taking space from a physical hard disk but don't know how to do it if it is at all possible.

    Kyle,

It is not a straightforward task (and see LMiller7 warning below). See these guides [and I think there are references in some TenForums threads as well but I could not find them]

What Are Basic and Dynamic Disks - MiniTool
Extend Different Types of Dynamic Volumes - PWizard

Basic and Dynamic Disks - MSDocs
How to Create Dynamic Volumes with AOMEI Dynamic Disk Manager?

But you can often avoid the need to do any of this by appropriate relocation of some of your user folders onto the HDD. Might this suit you better?

A drive extended into a separate physical drive is known as a spanned volume. The problem is that it works only for data drives, not for drives containing the OS which is the typical use for an SSD. Spanned drives require special drivers but they cannot be loaded until the OS is loaded and running. But this can't happen until the drivers are loaded. The classic chicken and egg problem. The best solution is to buy a larger drive. Either that or make better use of the available space.

Nope. SSD’s are falling in prices. Get a bigger drive.
