Intel Chipset Driver installation information on Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E
Forgive all the questions, but I have not done this before and need some help understanding the process.
My system is custom built by Maingear in 3/2018 and the ASUS Mob has all the original drivers installed by them.
This week the Windows 10 Pro x64 v1803 Updater wanted to install "Intel-System 4/11/2018 12:00AM 1815.12.0.2021".
I did not allow (hearing to never allow Windows to install drivers) and per internet found out this was an Intel Management Engine driver. So went to ASUS website and found they had same driver available in zip form for my board from 7/25/2018. So I downloaded and installed following ASUS instructions.
So far so good (I guess). I noticed that ASUS also has an Intel Chipset Driver available the same date, 7/25/2018. I downloaded the zip file, unzipped and opened the ASUS setup file to take a look at. The Intel setup screen has a Read.me file which looked way to complex for me so I cancelled out of the installation.
My question(s) is, "does this same dated Chipset Driver need to be installed since I installed the Intel Management Engine Interface with the same date"? I'm thinking no since all (so far) seems OK but????
My research on Chipset drivers indicates that it is not a driver at all but a collection of inf files? Also something to the effect that in order to install one, you need some special commands, etc?
Could you provide a little more insight on Chipset drivers, do they need to be updated, and how to properly install them - eg: interactive, silent, special commands & how?
Thanks
