    reasons for SSD to fail?

I have a SSD that was from Transcend, I am pretty sure that it wasn't electrically shocked or dropped but it just failed in less than two years.

What is the main reason? Because of cheap quality made by cheap brands?
Or just because of bad luck and it usually doesn't matter what brands with the lifespan?

not talking about difference between SSD and HDD
but the difference btw SSD brands. SSD is higher effeiceincy than HDD which is an undeniable fact

Are you sure it's dead and not just a bad connection or cable? What are the symptoms?

I'm sure Murphy had something to do with it, "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong". All electronic stuff works on white smoke.

Try reading some of these ssd brand reliability comparison

Whilst studying the subject, do keep remembering what decision you hope answers will assist with.
    - If you are trying to select a replacement SSD then you might just as well work up a shortlist using Amazon [based on a list of requirements that you draw up beforehand and only edit after serious consideration] then go to each maker's website to study the specs.
    - You could then apply the results of any guidance you receive here or by reading online articles in the knowledge that everything written on the subject is a generalisation that might end up applying or not applying to your particular case.

Warranty length can also provide an idea of how long they should last.

While not something the average user should really concern itself over. Flash memory type is also a factor in longevity and lifespan for SSDs. Just puting it out there if someone wants to know. It is all about quality control and the technology involved.

SSD/HDDs are basically supplied as Consumer versions or Enterprise/Professional versions, the second are higher priced and have greater quality control so on average will last longer. See post #9.

However random failures can and do happen, more likely on the consumer ones on average.
An average failure rate is not much of an indicator for a consumer with just a few SSD drives, the unpredictable random failure is more likely.

Higher temperatures in an SSD also lowers reliability.

Most consumers are not going to monitor or understand signs of impending SSD/HDD failure. So a nasty shock for them particularly with no backups, again this is unfortunately common.

    Yes, Combination of both factors.
