Birthday is coming up! Thinking about upgrading my memory on my HP PC

Next month, May 6th, I will be 26 years old. I ready to upgrade the memory on my HP Pavilion 550-153w Desktop PC. It supports up to 16 GB of extra RAM. Crucial said it didn't have the memory for my specific system.

Where can I find this memory at?

But is that compatible with my specific computer?

HP doesn't have any in stock right now. But they gave me this part number. Part Number: Memory - 8GB, PC3-12800, CL11, dPC : 698651-154

    Crucial 8GB DDR3L-1600 UDIMM CT8963238 | Pavilion 550-153w | Crucial.com

Will this work? I have had Crucial before and I trusted it.

Both memory should be compatible with your computer.

Do I get 2 chips or just one? I have a 4 GB chip and a 2 GB chip for memory in it now. That means I have 6 GB memory as stock right now. 8+4 does not equal 16. So, the chips that are in it now won't work.

I don't understand. Crucial lists RAM upgrades for your PC.

    https://www.crucial.com/ScanListView...atalogId=10151

They list your PC as having only two DIMM slots, so you'd have to remove the RAM that is already there, and replace it with two 8GB DIMMs. They cost about $50 each, for a total of $100.

You can get compatible RAM a little more cheaply at Newegg: https://promotions.newegg.com/memory...itle=16%2520GB

Crucial may be a little safer, because they guarantee compatibility of RAM purchased for a supported model.
