PCI-Express To SATA III 6Gbps Cards

I have tried using two different models of these cards, and both were hopeless. Red text errors were common, even before getting into Windows. They both used a Marvell chipset. Maybe that was the problem.

Even booting with with rescue media produced red text error messages.

Has anyone ever had success with them? If so, what brand and model did you use?
My motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD7 (Rev 2.0).

Red screens of death were common
No idea what it is, take a snapshot using mobile phone and post it here. May be vga problem.

what brand and model did you use?
This one: PCES-SH4 PCIe 4/2x SATA 6G controller | Axagon
    - operated in AHCI (non-RAID) mode so TRIM is working
    - SATAIII (6 Gb/s) cables used
and some 2-port Marvell card in different system (the same arrangement); both without issues.

In general, SATA cards are simple and reliable devices. To test their functionality you need:
    - SATAIII cables (better shielded)
    - fully stable system (w/o this add-on card)
    - second system with different motherboard/vga (to exclude other hw fault).

    Hi mucho.

I worded my opening post wrongly.
The screen goes black with red meaningless (to me) text except for I see x64 and rflags.

Yeah, that card looks the same, except it is branded as Skymaster.

I have tried 2 cards so far.
Both with different Marvell chipsets. I should have stayed clear of Marvell, but there are not a lot of choices available now.

The first one wouldn't even boot at all, and the second one would allow boot into windows without a drive plugged into it, then you could plug one in and it would work, but if you booted with it like that, you would get the same result as the first card.

I have tried using standard drivers as well as the Marvell ones. But the first card is a real problem as I can't do anything with it.

    The two cards are:

    First Card:
    Skymaster PCI-Express 4 Port SATA III 6Gbps Card EST11B

    Second Card:
Skymaster PCI-Express to SATA III Card 2 Port/6Gbps Card EST04A

Here is one from the website that you used that I tried. It looks very similar.

I have posted a photo in my first post.

I uploaded my photo to Google Images, and it produced Visually Similar Images. There is an exact one from Dell nine years ago.

    OK. I found it.

I am also thinking of trying disabling the Intel ICH10R controller.

Regarding the picture, this is uefi msg, not OS one. Definitely low-level HW problem.
    - reset uefi settings to default
    - test your memory using memtest
    - try other pcie port.

The first one wouldn't even boot at all
    Required procedure:
    - install new sata card, leave system disk connected to mobo port
    - boot os & install ahci driver for new card (otherwise you will get 0x7b inaccessible boot device error)
    - attach system disk to new card, boot OS from it.

ASMedia chipset, so your problem is not Marvell related...

I have done a memory test.
I have tried other PCI-e ports.
I have the latest available BIOS.
