    Reduced random read/write speeds in 970evo 250gb

    Hello everyone,
Ive had this nagging issue with my 970evo 250gb lately where the speeds (albeit in crystaldiskmark- a synthetic bench....) are not what they were when it was new. I am aware that drives behavior may change as they fill, but take a look below. Note the percentage full of the drive. Far right was one I took day 1 after initial OS install and moving some basic files. Middle was after several weeks. And far left was today.

Im noticing some inconsistencies with the random read/writes. It is installed in m.2 slot one on my board (asus maximus x code- z370) and is the only NVME in the system. Magician confirms is pcie 3.0 x 4 mode. I have the latest firmware, and latest samsung drivers. What could I be overlooking? Im seeing others get speeds much closer to me "new drive" speeds with a percentage utilized much closer to my current 60-70%. I tried running in safe mode to see if it was maybe due to an overactive AV program or something, but speeds were identical. Sometimes if I run the benches repeatedly a couple times the scores will go up several hundred mb/s in crystal disk, but they all seem quite far off from the earlier lower % runs.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Do not worry about it. A lot goes into how a OS and hardware work together. The less tasks, the faster. The more, slower, just like humans.
