    Replacing HDD with a SDD

I have an Inspiron 5477 AIO and want to replace its HDD with as large a SDD I can afford. The problem is I don't know how to hook up the SDD to affect the migration. Is there an additional SATA connection available to which I can connect the SDD? Then manual makes no mention of such a thing.
I hope someone here is familiar with the machine to guide me.

I plan to use Mini Tools Partition Magic to do the migration.

    Thank you.

First , start by making a solid , complete backup of your entire OS , with Macrium .
The boot-cd of Macrium , has a "Redeploy "-function , with it you can replace your HDD to your new SSD............

You will more than likely need a SATA to usb adapter cable to do the clone from HDD to SSD.

well, you need an external usb adapter or enclosure, and Macrium Reflect free to clone your hdd.
Personally I go with a clean install (saves alot of headaches) though a bit more prep.
There some Great tutorials right here in 10 forums which can explain it step by step.
one thing, download all the drivers you might need from the dell support site and save them to a flash drive.
you might not need them, but better safe then sorry.

I would use Reflect to image your system drive to a another internal drive or external hard drive. Then install the SSD, boot from a Reflect recovery drive and restore the saved Reflect backup to the new SSD. I have a guide if you need more details.

As stated,. there are 2 options. They both include a secondary USB connected drive.
Option 1: Attach an external USB HDD that has enough space to backup the C: drive to it. Download Macrium Reflect Free, create a Rescue USB Flash drive or CD/DVD in the software. Boot off of the Recovery disk and Choose to make an Image file of the HDD that has Windows on it, be sure to include all partitions on this HDD. Save the image to your USB HDD. When Done, Remove the old HDD and plug in the new SSD drive. Boot off of the Macrium Recovery disk again and choose to Restore your Image file on the external HDD to the new SSD drive.

Option 2; After downloading Macrium, or any other Clone software, create a bootable USB Flash Drive or Recovery CD/DVD from the software,
Get a USB-SATA adapter with a power adapter. Plug your new SSD into it. And attach it to the computer. Once the drive is recognized by the computer, restart and boot with the new Clone Media recovery disk. Choose to do a Clone of the drive that Windows is on, be sure to clone all partitions, this is your Source Drive. And choose to Clone the hdd to the new SSD drive or your Target/Destination drive. Once completed, remove the old HDD and plug in the new SSD. It should boot normally.
