    Security Camera?

Hey all. Not sure the correct subforum to post this.

I would like a camera where i put it right on desk where i don't need to do any type of tough installation where you have to put wiring or anything like this. Im in a small studio apartment and my door is a glass door. Where im located, the apartments almost all have glass see through doors. Of course you have curtains to cover it etc. I want a camera there where i would be able to check from my phone if someone were to come into my apartment and basically just so i could view my apartment from my phone.

Does anyone have any recommendations? This is one i saw on amazon. Is this the one i want for my small studio apartment? Its a very tiny apartment. But i would want to see it when im outside the apartment etc.

Amazon.com : TENVIS HD IP Camera- Wireless Surveillance Camera with Night Vision, Two-way Audio, 720P Indoor Home Security Camera for Pet Baby Monitor, Auto-Cruise Remote Monitor with Micro SD Slot, Android, iOS App : Gateway

Also what other equipment would i need? I would need a micro sd slot right? How many would i need and how big? The other questions i have is this

    1. Say i start recording it right now... how long can i have the footage to? For example i believe you can only record up to a few hours or so? Then what happens? Example say im out of the apartment for a week or so. Does it continue recording the entire time? I would need a micro sd slot for it right? How big gb would i need for it to record? Does one need to erase the old footage so there is more space for the new footage?

    2. What if i wanted to record it for up to 1 month if im not at the apartment? Could that be done or that won't be possible? So basically how long can you be away for from the apartment because you have to check on it?

    3. So would i need any motion detector or anything like that for this? This does not have it right? So for example, if im not at apartment, is there a way for me to get an alert if my apartment door has been opened or anything like that?

I also could view whats being seen on my camera on my iphone at any time on my iphone right? Also if im outside the apartment, i need to have data on my phone to view it right? Thus in order to view whats going on in the iphone... you need wifi or data activated to view what the camera is recording or not?

Should i also want 1080p and not 720p as the one i posted above?

I'm using this one for about one year and it works very well even in full darkness. I'm loving it.

hi thanks for that info. I see you are from the uk but they seem to have this for amazon.com as well.

But are there any privacy issues? I read lot of these cameras get hacked quite a bit?

Hey all another question i have. I have this webcam that i bought years ago and it works good as webcam for skype. Does anyone know if i could use this as a security camera somehow? Or not because its old technology? Could i somehow use it to record like a security camera and watch it through my iphone? But it would require my computer to be turned on always because its connected to a usb port? Because if i could somehow use this as my camera, i would use it but anyone know if something like this would work?

It would have to be connected to a computer that's running all the time and use a program like Download ContaCam - MajorGeeks or Download Home Eye - MajorGeeks or Download iSpy 64-Bit - MajorGeeks
