How to format my C Drive

I'm having issue with my main drive the C drive and just backed it up and thought I would do a full format then run my backup. But after upgrading to windows 10 I haven't done a format and not having a physical disc I was wondering how to do it. I know I used to format during bootup but for the life of me can't remember how I did it. Thanks

How do you format C: ?

If you really want to do that, you could boot to a command prompt (i.e. Windows is not running) and then use the commands here:
Guide: Format Hard Drive via Command Prompt & Formatting Tool - EaseUS

What sort of backup have you? A disk image?

If so, restoring the image means you wouldn't need to format the partition.

Further, a Windows installation consists of several partitions, not just what you know as C:

You may first wish to check your drive: e.g.
    Hard Disk Sentinel (trial)
    or
HD Tune (free) - Health and Error scan tabs

I backup up using EaseUS Todo Backup Home. I do want to format drive in case there are errors. I keep getting a blue screen saying page fault in non paged area NTFS.sys I read somewhere that formatting the drive helped that person. Besides some of my folders are slow opening and never were before. I have a barracuda 10,000 1tb hard drive and like I said folders aren't opening as fast as they did before. Here is a pic of my C drive partition does this look right to you?How to format my C Drive-2019-03-21_22h44_17.png

If there are disk errors is bad blocks files may be corrupted so restoring a backup will just bring back corrupt files. Your best bet is to go to disk makers website and get their disk test specific to the hd. If it says faulty get a new drive if it's ok do a clean install

Hi, start by testing your disk. Forget formatting.

If ok, then treat this as a BSOD case and create a thread in the BSOD section, using the tool provided there to capture data for analysis.

Your partitions look fine from what is shown.

So far all tests show the drive is fine. When I get the blue screen again I will do that. The thing is it says the NTFS.sys failed but not which drive. I have 3 hard drives. I also ran a scan on my D drive and that comes back ok too.

    If you search for
page fault in non paged area NTFS.sys

you will find e.g. - general concepts..
Resolving Page fault in nonpaged area problem in Windows

but if you create a new thread in the BSOD section of this forum you will get specific advice.

    BSODs need diagnosis.
