As usual, please refer to the release notes

I gather that various OEM manufacturers will release their updated version based on that release quite soon.

Also, best to check via Intel Driver Assistant if this update is deemed as needed on your system:

    IntelĀ® Driver & Support Assistant

EDITED TO ADD: It was detected as an update on mine, just installed it and all is well (so far).

The reason I asked, I noticed a lot of these manufacture apps are just a disguise to put spyware on your machine. I have a dell and they have all kinds of apps that are supposed to keep you running well and good, but really???

So I was just wondering if you saw a speed increase or just a happy interface to view settings you can't change any way.

It's literally just a driver - software that comes with it is meaningless to me and frankly speaking would possibly do without it.

But it's not a nagware / spyware or else.

The latest IRST driver isn't necessarily the best for your PC - see Forum - Intel RST/RSTe Drivers (latest: v17.8.0.1065 WHQL/v6.2.2.1006 WHQL)

What you surely meant is: this release might be for newer PCs - and I can accept that.

But why release notes - or description (in bold in my previous post) - seems indicating otherwise?
