    need to load driver for HP monitor?


    I recently bought a new monitor (HP VH240a). It works fine out of the box. On the HP support site there is a driver, which I downloaded. Is there any reason to load that driver since the monitor seems to work fine now?

    no - that driver just put the settings on the computer

    As you found out, drivers are not necessary for a monitor. The resolution and other settings are set from your video cards control panel. There are a few functions that can be set on the monitors buttons as well, a monitor driver doesn't really change much.
