    external hard drive caddy

I bought a caddy or enclosure for my older but good internal drive to make an external drive for storage.
It seems to be OK after I formatted it. However there is a system reserved under it in explorer.
Do I do anything with this system reserved? Will it affect my Macrium images if left plugged in.
    Please see attachment.

    Go to diskpart

    • select disk 1
    • clean
    • create partition primary
    • format fs=ntfs quick label=Backup

Alternatively, in Disk Management (as in your picture above) right click and delete both partitions on disk 1 then right click (on the un-allocated space) and make a new volume covering the lot.

I agree with comment above - it is better to start with a clean disk.

I used the cmd prompt to do as you say. How do I now make a new one?

As described in the post above.

If you are using diskpart then create partition will do it. If you are using the GUI in disk management then right click on the un-allocated space.

I used diskpart so if I rt click on the volume what do i do? It is labeled backup so do I leave it like that?
File explorer cannot find it as it has not been created and i don't know how

You can assign it a letter by using diskpart (sorry I forgot to mention that bit).

Assuming it is the same layout as discussed above :

    • select disk 1
    • select partition 1
    • assign letter = R (or whatever letter if you don't want R)

Or in Disk Management right click and assign the partition a letter.

In Disk Management you should now have one partition on disk 1. You right click when your cursor is on that. On the partition not the disk.

Post a picture of your current Disk Management and I'll put an arrow on it if it isn't clear.
