Now , on the new Crucial BX500 SSD. I am happy with it.

But I still want to reflect upon. What was the main reason of my last SDD to fail so fast? Was it because of the quality make or was it because I did not clean out the dust inside the chassis? I didn't clean the dust for two years. Yes there was a lot of dust....

No, dust wouldn't kill it, some power surge might have though. Or just bad luck

You just hit it right on the head mate, dust will cause major failure of component in any computer, fans, hard drive, and of coarse the main one over heating because of the dust, I hoover mine out completely every six months as a computer engineer (retired) most failures in a computer are caused by overheating, you need to vaccume it out reguarly to keep it at its peak condition. Then you will see a big difference.

Here is my PC and never had a failure.buying SSD ? any advice?-image.png

As far as I understand, dust could short-circuit the electronic device and ruin it, that's it. Nothing else I could think of. However, looks like the only "metal" part of the SSD is the power and the data but they are always connected and covered. I don't quite understand how dust could ruin the hard drive.

I just don't want to make the same mistake again. Although nowadays a SSD isn't very expensive, I am not very happy that it lasted only two years. Luckily, I did not lose too much data.

I am only partially sigted now registered Blind because of computers but I dont blame them I blame me, I made that choice when something fails its just bad luck, dust it off and dont look back, like me the chances of it happening again are negligable, enjoy yourself. It will work for you believe me.

life is forwards. But sometimes we need to "look back" for review and learn from it

@Tsw88, I have a 250GB Crucial SSD from the days of Vista, continued using it on Windows 7 & the Windows 10 upgrade: no problems with it. I use Crucial’s Storage Executive software once a year to ensure its settings etc. are up-to-date. So far so good. Good luck with your Crucial BX500 SSD.
I want to add that Crucial’s Storage Executive software also lets you know when a firmware update is available. It doesn’t inform you ahead of time but when I’ve seen a firmware update is available, I always updated the firmware. As noted above my SSD is still running fine and that’s as far back as the Vista days.
--- Whatever warranty you have on your BX500, keep that information handy.

Regardless of which make/model Transcend, Crucial or any of the others mentioned in this thread, I doubt any of them have a perfect record. I want to believe they have excellent records but there’s also a few that upset a perfect record. In your case you had a Transcend SSD that latest only 2 years but it appears you had a 3-year warranty.
--- In post #31, “But I still want to reflect upon. What was the main reason of my last SDD to fail so fast?”. It might be nice if we could answer that, but now that you have a Crucial BX500 SSD, go with it.
