@Tsw88, I have a 250GB Crucial SSD from the days of Vista, continued using it on Windows 7 & the Windows 10 upgrade: no problems with it. I use Crucial’s Storage Executive software once a year to ensure its settings etc. are up-to-date. So far so good. Good luck with your Crucial BX500 SSD.

    I like Crucial.

They are owned by Micron - a big seimconuctor company.
Their quality is very high and offer free USA based technical support by telephone!

    Prices are also in line.

Always buy at the higher end of the curve. You will appreciate that in the end.

    Enjoy!
I asked him, what's the difference between MX500 and BX500, he said length of warranty, and I then asked what's the difference in hardware, he just said, "better" for MX500. Yes in fact only $15 more expensive for MX500 than BX500 of the same capacity. I chose BX500 because my shopping sense is - they are pretty much the same, only marketing difference. Hope I wasn't wrong

I once always thought that Transcend is a decent quality. But I was proved totally wrong.

I have an external transcend 500GB SSD that I have put through the ringer for years now and it is still going strong... I would not have bought but it was a review sample... actually I cannot remember ever having any problems with any SSD(s) other than a couple of OCZ drives...

Here's a benchmark tool; just download and install the the standard edition. The series of tests might take several minutes to run.

Western Digital is also making big inroads into SSD market, worth looking into it. Now it came out with fastest NVMe drive.

I have MX500's and BX500's. The performance on the MX 500 series is better than the BX but not by much. I bought the BX's on sale and am very happy with them.
Shop around on Crucial's website and Amazon, Staples, etc. The MX has more capacity than the BX, so look and compare carefully.

Samsung is also excellent, but the support from Crucial won me over.
As for Western Digital, they are relatively new to this (SSD) space. However, their support is not that great and that is concerning, IMO.

    FWIW!

I recently RMA'd a Sandisk (WD) Ultra 11 SSD that was just outside its warranty period of 3 years.
WD paid postage both ways, emailed me the labels, and the service was excellent, probably the best returns experience I've ever had from any company.
They upgraded the drive FOC from a 120GB to a 256GB Ultra 3D, which new has a 5 year warranty. So I don't know what more they could have done really.

Avoid DRAM less drives for boot (write cache et al) and only use them for external...11-Drive DRAMless SSD Round Up
