I apologize if posted in wrong forum here)

bought new keyboard and mouse abotu 5 days ago and initailly it was working fine on first usb start up with the both keyboard and mouse wireless .. but now a few days later after my boot up screen kicks into the desktop mode both mouse and keyboard is frozen or not moving . .batterys are fine .. after about 3 or 4 reboots I then removed the usb peripherals and plugged in a secondary keyboard and mouse both usb enabled ( not wireless).

so far so good .. now what do I have to do to troubleshoot.. ??>

I'm sure its to do with drivers .... but from where and how to .. ?

Try this - Cleanup un-connected USB device entries

    • First create a new System Restore point.
    • Shutdown and unplug all USB devices, except wired USB mouse or keyboard.
    • Boot and create a new Environment variable called devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices and set it's value to 1 as follows:
      • Right click on This PC and select Properties
      • Click on Advanced System Settings at left
      • Click on the Environmental Variables button
      • Click the New button under the User variables for xxxxx" area.
      • Set the Variable name as: devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices
      • Set the Variable value to: 1
      • Click OK as needed to close all the windows you opened.

    • Open Device Manager (Control Panel, System, Device Manager)
    • Click on View then Show hidden devices.
    • Scroll down to USB and click on the plus to expand it.
    • Uninstall all the entries that are dimmed (greyed out), by right clicking on them and selecting Uninstall.
    • Shutdown and reboot, let windows rediscover everything and load necessary drivers. This can take a few minutes, be patient.

Now try the wireless USB mouse and keyboard, see what happens.
