MTP USB Device drivers won't install no matter what i do

Greetings, i only come here after more than 6 hours of trying to fix this, i can't connect my old iphone (3gs, i use it as a music player) or my current phone (sony xeperia Z2) both have been connected to my pc many times, but i can't get them to connect nor to charge via the pc
I tried every single solution here: There must be a real solution to
    and nothing worked,
this is what happen: MTP USB Device drivers won't install no matter what i do-unedrfgdfgtitled.png
i got the "windows found drivers for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install them" message

i also tried all of these solutions too: Media Transfer Protocol not working on Windows 10 [Fix] and nothing worked either, when i locate wpdmtp.inf file. Right click the file and choose Install from the menu, a window with red X says "device one of the installers for this device cannot perform the installation at this time"

I did a system restore but i only had one restore point 1 week ago and didn't fix this and of course tried different cables and usb ports, same issue, and safe mode with networking, also same issue

    this C:\windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log is attached

    I noticed that this date:

    [BeginLog]
    [Boot Session: 2019/01/29 19:11:16.500]

is the last time i connected my iphone successfully to the pc, not sure if this is a helpful info or not

please help i really don't want to do a system reset.. not sure if that will even fix it

    Thank you

Is there a way that history of USB devices can be purged with any of these?

I have similar utility on my PC somewhere but it's now a while since I used it last time.

Also, did you try another port / USB cable?

i can open in ti RegEdit, which will take to Registry entry of the device, should i do something there? delete or change some values?

and yes tried different port and usb cable, the problem is in my pc

Well, something's not right, that's for sure.

Are you sure this Tor thingy you have installed does not interfere here?

Also, did you make any changes / driver updates etc. since 29/01, so when it was all working okay? I assume Windows might have updated itself on Patch Tuesday but then you would have had restore point available from that day.

Also, did you check the usual commands, i.e.: SFC & DISM to see that your OS is well?

Tor is a vpn service i've been using for a year and a half, i don't think it has something to do with this. the only thing i remember updating since 29/1 is DS4 for windows, and deleted that already, and just tried SFC & DISM and no corruption found, rebooted anyway still no change, do you think a system reset would fix this?

Purple or Green circles show that the device is connected. Purple also shows that you should use 'Safely eject' when disconnecting the device. (For the meaning of the other colours, have a look ath the "USBDeview Icons Legend" section in the help file included in the download.)

Are you sure you didn't have iTunes installed in the past? I'm not at all sure how you can transfer music to your iPhone 3GS (to use within the iPod app) using Win 10's own build-in driver... which is a very, very basic MTP driver.

If I look at Win 10 1809's Device Manager alongside USBDeview then it looks like this:
MTP USB Device drivers won't install no matter what i do-copytrans-manager01.png

When I attach an iPhone 3GS the screen changes to show the iPhone connected:
MTP USB Device drivers won't install no matter what i do-copytrans-manager02.png

In Device Manager I can open the driver details which reveal that it's a Microsoft driver:
MTP USB Device drivers won't install no matter what i do-copytrans-manager03.png

    USBDeview shows similar details:
MTP USB Device drivers won't install no matter what i do-copytrans-manager04.png

However, there's no mechanism within Win 10 1809 that I'm aware of to copy music files from itself to the iPhone. You could install the bloated iTunes - this will provide both the transfer/sync mechanism plus more capable hardware drivers.

However, if you're only using the iPhone 3GS as an iPod then why not try another third-party utility that's free and tiny (by comparison to iTunes).

    Try this:

    1. Download and install just CopyTrans Manager:
MTP USB Device drivers won't install no matter what i do-copytrans-manager05.png

    2. Run CopyTrans Manager with your iPhone 3GS attached. The first time you run it you'll see a message about iOS drivers missing:
MTP USB Device drivers won't install no matter what i do-copytrans-manager06.png

    3. Choose Install only drivers.

    4. Download the CopyTrans Drivers Installer and follow the (very clear) instructions to install them. (You'll need to close CopyTrans Manager.):
MTP USB Device drivers won't install no matter what i do-copytrans-manager07.png

I heard a 'de-dunk' noise from my iPhone as it was recognised. Checking Device Manager and USBDeview I saw an additional entry for an Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.
MTP USB Device drivers won't install no matter what i do-copytrans-manager08.png
(This is the additional, more advanced transfer/sync driver that I believe you need.)

    5. Run CopyTrans Manager again. This time there should be no message about iOS drivers missing so click on the +Add button (shown as 1):
MTP USB Device drivers won't install no matter what i do-copytrans-manager09.png

    6. Add the music files you want to CopyTrans Manager's library then, with your iPhone 3GS still connected, click on the Update button (shown as 2). This will sync the music files to your iPhone, after which you can open them in the iPod app.

Hope this helps... and that it goes as easy for you as it did for me (with the same problem).
