Bluetooth speakers paired but not showing in Sound - Playback

    Setup -
    Belkin F8T017 Bluetooth adapter
    Betron speaker
    Ausdom headphones
    Windows 10

All devices above shown as working and paired in Bluetooth & Other Devices
All Bluetooth services shown as Running
Trouble shooter doesn't show any errors
However Sound - Playback does not show either as options to set as default (and consequently I can't get sound out of either.
(Betron works OK with Amazon Dot via Bluetooth. Haven't tried Ausdom headphones)

    ANy ideas please?

Can you not select the desired device from the Volume icon?....

That shows the same choices as Sound - Playback. No Bluetooth devices.
There is nothing wrong with the speaker - that connects without any difficulty to my phone for example. Also the Bluetooth dongle connects OK to the Skype camera, so that too is OK.
Must be some setting on Windows 10.

If you right click, are you set to show both Disabled Devices and Disconnected Devices?...

Both Disabled and Disconnected devices are ticked to show. Tried unticking them and ticking them back on, more in hope than expectation. Still no show of Bluetooth devices.
Not a lot of help but I note that the webcam, also Bluetooth, shows up on the Recording tab.

I had a helluva time getting BT devices connected too,
try uninstalling a device and re-installing it...

Been there. Done that! W10 and drivers all up to date BTW.
For good measure I had another go. Uninstalled all BT devices - headphones (which didn't work either), speaker (ditto) and webcam (which did work). Also uninstalled the Belkin BT adapter.
Followed up with a cold re-boot.
End result - camera works, headphones and speaker have paired to BT but still don't show on Sound - Playback.

If it wasn't for the fact the camera works I began to question the BT adapter.
Googling for it - Belkin F8T017 - under Specs system requirement only mentions Vista (Yeuch!). Further searching found no mention of Windows 10.

I think that may well be the problem. The camera has been around for some time; the headphones and speaker haven't, so maybe they are not supported.

    New BT adapter required?

    Yeah, maybe!

    It's a mystery sometimes!

Last clean install, I messed around for a couple hours removing devices, pairing devices, switching BT USB ports, blah, blah, blah...

finally on the 7th or 8th try stuff started to connect!

With my Google Home speakers though, I had to unpair them at the PC and in the Google Home app on my phone!

"It's a mystery sometimes!" Very true.

I've always considered networking, including WiFi and Bluetooth a bit of a black art!

If I do solve it with a new adapter I'll post the result.

    Thanks for your help.

Hi Edwin - Solved, but needed a new dongle and a bit of a struggle with that.
I bought an Avantree BTDG-40S Bluetooth dongle. The existing one was quite old and probably not compatible with upgraded Windows 10. I say this because the new one required a download of drivers if it was being used on an "upgraded Windows 10" machine (as opposed to one that was bought of the shelf).
Installation was not as straightforward as implied in the blurb. Certainly not plug and play. The instructions said to use the supplied Bluesoleil program to set it up, but the usual way of loading a program, and as suggested in the instructions, was not visible anywhere. Eventually I loaded it by finding the program file on my C drive and running it from there.
Once I got that running I eventually managed to get the speaker and the headphones connected.
As for the Avantree dongle - yes, it works, but my initial reaction, fueled by messages on my screen, was that it was faulty. Even the instructions didn't really help.
If I could remember all the things I did I would post them here for the benefit of others.
