Yes. the apple market is still strong in the US but the rest of the world has moved on. Technologically apple are no longer a Leading edge company, I have read many an Apple Launch Exclusive, with a smile on my face, as they announce an Exclusive Feature, that has been on Android devices for a number of years.

There is an image factor that make a lot of people want an iPhone or iPad, that is based on something other than reality.

There is also the often quoted security argument, saying that Chinese phones are spying on users. This is not really that convincing as the iPad / iPhone is likely made in the same Chinese factory, by the same child labour, as the Android Tablets and phones.

I have a laptop that i can travel with, and I have used Netbooks in the past for portability, but I now travel with my Phone, (chinese Android), or maybe with my phone and a 10.1" Galaxy Tab A and it just works for what I need to do. I also do not have to pay the premium to use Apple devices which are usually less advanced than what I have.

Chinese Android wins for me as a very occasional m. phone user- great for maps etc and necessary communication in country. My first (Doogee) had fingerprint; my banks argued their app didn't work with it 'cos it was Chinese/not approved or some such. One stressed concerns about my fingerprint data being transmitted somewhere so full access could be gained by some hacker. But now I have a Vernee T3 Pro and their apps work with that. Not that I now use fingerprint, as I'm not convinced of its security now.

For my next trip abroad I've surrendered on my ever slower Acer Aspire Win 7 starter, and gone for a 2nd hand Thinkpad 14" Win 10 Pro with SSD- less (big) battery (it also has an internal one) about 1.3kg + charger. £200.

For me the screen ratio is better on iPads, all the Android tablets I've had have all been too narrow.

It's a personal thing, the iPad uses something similar if not exactly the same as the Old 4:3 screen ratio. Every screen I have is 16:9 so I just prefer that now. I use my phone in portrait mode that can appear a little narrow but Tablets are usually used in landscape, and even with the phone, as it's 6+inch screen I can us it in landscape if I need to get width.
