Problem with Windows 10 Home and USB flash drives

All of a sudden no USB flush drive (different makes) seem to be recognised by Windows but it does recognise USB external drive.
I have uninstalled the flush drives in Device manager, power off the pc and power it on again and tried the flush drives again but to no avail! Windows makes to sound when connecting and disconnecting the flush drives but nothing else. Any useful suggestions?

Hi, Are you removing the devices safely, using the tray icon, or simply pulling them out when you want?

If you research the error message,
because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory (Core 38)
you will find plenty of references.

    E.g.
Error code 38 Windows cannot load the device driver for this - Microsoft Community

Right click and uninstall each of the 2 with the yellow triangle. Reboot. Try your flash drives again. Safely eject with the tray icon when done.

    I always use the
tray icon but sometimes it says to close all programs that are using the drive even though there are no programs running and I then power off the pc before removing the flush drive.
