SSD optimization and TRIM unable to run on all SSD's.

    Hey guys,

So I'm having an issue with my setup where none of my SSD's can be optimized. As can be seen in the screenshot all of the SSD's are greyed out for optimization and are listed as optimization not available. I made sure that DisableDeleteNotify is enabled. I also tried going into powershell trying to manually trim the drives and received errors there as well. There is also attached screenshots showing current AHCI controller drivers. Another thing to note is that defrag and optimize drives says that optimization was last run on Feb 2 for my C drive, but never run on the other drives. I'm ripping my hair out trying to figure this out. I think it might have to do with me having an AMD system.

    SanDisk SSDNow 250gb

Maybe this will help, In device Manager go to properties for your SSD>driver>update driver>browse my computer for driver software> let me pick from a list of device drivers, it should show 1 driver, click next let it install, reboot pc. Check if trim enabled and working.

    @Surgikill -

    Welcome to the community!

    It's not AMD, lol.

Cleanly uninstall all Disk Drives (storage device drivers) via Device Manager and reboot. Let W10 PnP each device anew.

Look at the ASUS BIOS and check that all are recognized properly and are still accessible.
Try the Optimize and Defrag Drives again. Any change?

You might need to check with ASUS on your build if you cannot issue a TRIM command (command line) to each of the drives.

    Here's another resource -

Also, kindly post each SSD with the drive letter, manufacturer, model, capacity and type of connection, i.e. SATA, PCIe, NVMe, etc.

    Thanks.

    SanDisk SSD Now, E, 250GB, SATA 6Gbps
    Samsung 860 Evo, C, 500GB, SATA 6Gbps
    Samsung 860 Evo, G, 1TB, SATA 6Gbps

I'll try that with uninstalling the devices. As you can see by my powershell in my OP I already tried retrimming them according to that guide and no dice.

Judging by your Device manager, SSDs are running with SATA ports in IDE instead of AHCI mode which is required for Trim to work. Optimizing SSDs in windows just invokes/forces Trim.

I had those same drivers installed earlier that you do I believe. They should be MSFT drivers from 2006. I updated to the latest AMD drivers. How would I go about getting them out of IDE mode? I checked my BIOS just now and they are set to AHCI. Is there something in Windows I need to change? I found a post on a microsoft forum about changing some registry values, but I've had to do that before and I'm pretty sure windows won't boot if I go messing with those values.

First you have to check if SATA is set to AHCI mode in the BIOS.

See the screenshot. Only options are AHCI and RAID, and it was set to AHCI when I went in there.

Already done. All possible drivers are updated as of the OP with the latest available. I can rollback the driver to the 2006 Microsoft version if you would like, but the same issues were still there, which is why I updated to the AMD driver.
