help identify this flashdrive (I believe its a bootable device)

I believe someone may have used mediacreator to make this flashdrive a bootable back up but I can't discern more about it (need to know if its windows 10, if so i could use it to finish my virtual machine)

As above Bree pointed you to the tutorial that can differentiate whether the Windows 10 iso is esd or wim.
If it was downloaded from the Microsoft website it should be in esd.

The esd or wim differentiation is important if you are repairing using some dism commands:

If it was created by the MCT it would have the label ESD-ISO. Its lable of J_CEDA_X64FREV_EN-US_DV5 suggests it was made by something else. From this thread, the 'CEDA' part suggest it is the Education edition. The Dism commands in the tutorial will say for sure.

that makes a lot of sense and is probably where it is from. I guess I could use this to boot my virtual machine from

    Bree,
For the bootable iso flash drives I've clicked on sources to see whether they are esd or wim.
In this link it indicates that it should be mounted:

Do you look by opening sources on a bootable iso or do you mount?
If you mount how have you done it?

so there doesn't seem to be an .iso file in there for the OS, i thought there would be one i could use for virtual box, the virtual machine program. Im not sure why there wasnt one but, should I use media creation tool to make one?

Open it with Explorer and post a pic of the contents. It probably can be identified from that. This is what a typical bootable install thumb drive would look like:
