    Currently I have to wrench to usb flash drive to remove it

    Please rephrase your question?

    Maybe if you open File Explorer and Eject it. Then when you stick back in the icon will come back.

    Two potential solutions, the icon is unchecked - Right-click the notification area, then click Customize Notifications. Find Safely Remove Hardware in the list that appears, and choose Always show.
    or is disabled - to enable it:
    Press Win + R from keyboard, input regedit and click OK button.
    * Navigate to the location in the left pane.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Notification\Settings\
    * In the right side pane, double click on the Microsoft.Explorer.Notification.{…} string, change its value data from 0 to 1, and click OK button.
