Dell Drivers showing as updated when they are not!

I have been checking the support website for my Dell XPS8920 for an updated Realtek Audio Driver. The file offered for download as having been updated 31 Jan 2019 is the same file size, file name, version number and even has the same identical SHA-256 checksum as the driver file I downloaded over a year ago. I have observed the same phenomenon with several other drivers offered as having been updated.

Has anyone else noticed Dell Drivers listed on the Dell Support site as having been newly updated, when the file offered is actually much older?

Nothing wrong with that, the manufacturer of mine did the same sort of thing. Some parts of the driver date from 2013. Some from Windows 1809 version update. No problem the sound is fine along with an addon.

Does not matter about the date or whether it's exactly the same. Probably just shows it's good for the latest version update of Windows 10. Hardly a worry.

Yes, its a pain. I bet that the last updated entry actually means the last time that page was checked or something like that.

I decide which drivers to download by using the version numbers on the details pages for each recently "updated" item. Whilst I do backup drivers to an external HDD, I keep a full set of the latest ones on my computer so I have a ready means of checking the version numbers of ones I already have.

Of course, we could ask Dell "support" but I wouldn't expect a decent response so I have not bothered.

The dates published by Dell are virtually meaningless. Check whether the driver being offered is a later build version.

Many thanks to all for replies. I did contact Dell by a few different routes, and got no meaningful information, except if you count finding out that Dell does not care very much about answering questions from customers about its website support, or about actually updating its hardware drivers.

Drivers fall under for me "If it is working don't worry about it."
