You might want to change the SATA cable that the drives are using and plug the 860 into a different SATA port on the motherboard and see if the simplest fix solves your problem before going any further...
    thanks,
that is what i will do first, before i undo my whole windows configuration ^^

what just really confuses the hell out of me, is that it works for months completly fine, but then all of a sudden, BOTH 860 evo start to just not work at all anymore. really frustrating in trying to figure out the failure here.
also i used the same cable for the old 860evo and the new 860evo. so i guess the chances, that it is the sata cable, are low, i suppose.

im thinking it must be some sort of software failure, if hardware fails, it just fails completly, and doesnt "bug" out like this.
whats also important is, that these are just random freezes, not like the whole ssd stops working alltogether, after some seconds the freeze is over and it works again til the next freeze

You could use Samsung's data migration tool to clone your 840 to your 860. Very straight forward and available on their site.

If you are just using your 840 does your system lock up, crash or do other crazy things?

If the 840 runs fine I'm not sure why we think writing to the 860 issue is being caused by 840? I don't see the relationship that could be present.

As I read your description it is only when you use the 860 that issues arise.

Is your BIOS up to date on Motherboard.

Open device manager and look under storage controllers. Is there a device there listed as Samsung.

I highly recommend this first, prior to installing Windows.
Failing that, use the Macrium solution...

    thanks caledon Ken and teecuptech,

i dont have any system lock ups, crash or other crazy things. ONLY the programs saved ON the 860evo are affected, nothing else is freezing during that time.

how can i update my bios? ^^

    Attachment 222277

    Speichercontroller = storage controllers

im not sure if i have another SATA 3 slot availabe on my motherboard which i can reach, because my GTX 1070 is quite big :/

You follow the instructions in your manual to update the BIOS.

Please be aware there is some risk in updating BIOS's.

Read the instructions carefully and be super patient. Don't do it when there are storms in the area that could impact electricity. I use a a UPS.

You and you alone decide if the BIOS should be updated. See what version you are running and then check the Asus site for the latest. If there is a big delta this may play into your decision.

Are you keeping the drivers for your board up to date?

Before installing drivers and making lots of changes please ensure you have a system image to restore from. A tool like Macrium Reflect can be used, not the Windows built in backup. Make rescue media. No short cuts, please.

just checked with rebooting and going into uefi/bios, that my bios is up-to-date, but the official bios driver is from 2015 :P
but there is only one from the official asus site, so i guess thats not the problem

Once a board is older they very rarely keep issuing BIOS's.

Since yours is up to date have to look for other solution.

Did you check cables and ports?

What are all the USB SCSI drivers you showed?

I asked about other drivers like Chipset. Are you using Asus drivers from site?

What are the USB Scsi drivers being loaded from your screen shot?

Is your motherboard set to AHCI, IDE or Raid?

    Did you check other drivers?

first of all, thanks for all the input u guys put into me!!!

im really busy studying for uni right now, thats why i dont respond instantly, sorry for that.

"What are all the USB SCSI drivers you showed? ":
i dont even know what USB SCSI is, do you want me to screenshot something from there, pls let me know specifically what u want to see :)

    "Tried changing sata cables?":
i changed the sata cable to a different one, and also the sata port on the motherboard. same issue happens.
just to remind u guys, it is not frequent, it happens sometimes for hours. then after a reboot its completly fine, then next day it happens again for a few hours. :/

"Is your motherboard set to AHCI, IDE or Raid? ":
how do i check that exactly? in the bios? where there?

"Did you check other drivers?I asked about other drivers like Chipset. Are you using Asus drivers from site?":
drivers for what exactly? the ssd? i just installed the samsung magician program, and now the ssds still work. so i guess i must have some sort of driver for that, but i have no idea where to check which exact driver that is.
If you are talking about the asus driver for the mainboard i have, yes im using the one from the site.

    https://www.asus.com/de/Motherboards...Desk_Download/

im 100% sure, that my bios version is like the version described on the site, because i checked that, when i rebooted the pc.
but how and where do i check the other versions of drivers?

thanks in advance for your help guys <3
