USB not recognised after years using it.

I’ve come across an issue with an Xpress USB flush drive
that I use daily on my main desktop. I have been configuring a new desktop
where I have had to transfer data from one to the other. The new desktop
recognises the flush drive but the desktop where I mainly used it does not
recognise it anymore. Windows on my main desktop flagged only once a message
saying it did not recognise the device, now when I plug the device in my main
desktop it does not show in File Explorer although it is recognised and works
perfectly well on the new desktop.
Any ideas on how to get the main desktop to recognise the
    flush drive again?

From your description, it sounds like a connection problem, also these thumb drives do go bad and that also describes your USB thumb drive.
Something you can try is another port which you probably already have. Then you can delete the USB drivers in computer management/Device manager just right click on the USB section and delete drivers, reboot the USB drivers will reinstall and all previous devices that had been installed through USB giving your a clean slate so to speak and allow your USB thumb drive to reinstall itself when you plug it in again?

    Thanks for your suggestion.
Uninstalling USB Device and booting up and reconnecting the Xpress USB flush drive did not work it was still not recognised on any of the 6 USB 2.0 or on any of the 7 ports on the USB 3.0 hub, although it is recognised on other pc. I am now transferring the data to another USB drive before I format the Xpress and see if it is recognised again in the original pc.
