Samsung WPD 2.14.9.0 driver failing to install

Windows Update started showing this driver update a few days ago, and since then it's failing to install: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. - WPD - 12/4/2018 12:00:00 AM - 2.14.9.0.

I found this on the subject: Windows update offering "Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. - WPD - 2.14.9.0" driver to more devices

    It reads:

It’s a Samsung Mobile MTP device driver that is being installed on your PC.

However, it’s not that a new driver version is being rolled out. The version 2.14.9.0 first released in early December 2018. Microsoft appears to be pushing this update to a wider audience now to make sure every Windows machine has Samsung Mobile device driver installed. If you’re receiving this update, chances are you recently connected a Samsung Mobile to your PC over USB.

Yes, I have a Samsung tablet I have connected to my PC a few times.

Any idea how to make it install?

If there's no fix for that in Windows, I will search for ways to get rid of this thing altogether. TIA.

I've found this FIX: Samsung WPD 2.14.9.0 driver failing to install on Windows but it didn't solve the issue. I don't use Samsung smartphone anymore and I don't even know how to unistall this driver from operating system.

It also happens to me for a few days. The installation was successful
The installation is repeated even if successful.
    I have 20 installations successfully
The driver is installed but replicates the installation
    I have a samsung smartphone
It also happens on my second desktop PC

    No problem

It's the USB driver update for your Samsung phone. Windows Update did not work - Use Device Manage.

This is version 2.14.9.0 update - yours will be earlier, identify your current version:
Connect your phone to computer via USB cable.
Control Panel > Device Manager > Modems
Right click [SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem] > Properties > Driver tab
Driver version: 2.12.5.0 5/15/2017 showed on mine.
Click Update Driver > Search Automatically > Close when complete.

Right click [SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem] > Properties > Driver tab
Driver version: 2.14.9.0 12/14/2018 now shows on mine.
