Disable Driver Updates If You DL Updates From The Catalog

I took a quick peek at Shawn's tutorial but it is now up to 17 pages : )

Enable or Disable Driver Updates in Windows Update in Windows 10

I have taken to only downloading updates from the catalog approx. a month or so after they are released and was curious if there was any way to exclude driver updates in those cum update packages as opposed to the method outlined in the above tutorial when you DL from Windows Update or would implementing one or more of the tutorial methods work on updates downloaded from the catalog. TIA.

I relied to Windows Update when I had my laptop, everything was well (It was running 1803 too btw).

Anything missing I'll just head over to the manufacturer's website and download the drivers in there.

Hi! Thank you for both suggestions. I am marginally familiar with both apps however and I could be mistaken both would require me to use the traditional windows update method albeit going through the applications restrictions that is disabling driver updates and I am not sure at this time I want to change my settings that block windows update which is why I only download from the catalog now. OTOH if any one if these apps would allow me to point to the down loaded update that I got from the catalog and have the app "tell" the download not to install or go looking for driver updates that are included with the download then that would be perfect. I do realize that when I download from the catalog drivers and all will be installed thus the reason for the post looking for someway to DL from the catalog but have the driver updates excluded.

Well, that's cool!! I wonder now if WU Mini tool plays nicely with WUB which is what I rely on now. I believe I know with WUB active even if I were to go to Windows Update and tell it to update it would be blocked by WUB's preferences. I suppose I could temporarily disable WUB if that were the case. I also know that if I were to go to installed windows updates to see what was there it would show NOTHING due to some changes I also made though those changes escape me for the moment. The page will show something like "My windows update is controlled by system administrator" and there are no updates listed. I actually stay away from that window that shows installed windows updates for fear it should trigger something though I believe WUB would block that even if it did and I would have to do something stupid like, "Don’t Click “Check for Updates” Unless You Want Unstable Windows 10 Updates." I guess I need to do some experimenting and some more reading. Thanks again.

Even if MS WU is disabled, I understand WUMT works.
It works for me if WU is paused, e.g.

WUB has worked flawlessly for me for over a year now and the comments on the website seem to indicate that it works flawlessly for others as well. Is your suggestion that it is "inadequate" anecdotal or are you aware of any posts or articles informing that WUB does not work? I GOOGLED both "sordum- enabling/disabling service proves inadequate" and "windows update blocker disabling service proves inadequate" and a cursory look did not seem to indicate any problems. Thanks.
