After 7 years of updates from Vista to Win10, the "creator's update" has trashed my Jmicron card reader with error message telling me there's a driver problem. HP does not offer any driver newer than 2009 and Windows driver search found nothing at all. Any ideas?

It can fe bound in here: PCI Vendor and Device Lists

And then follow the second entry in the list (for device ID 0x2382):
    0x2382
    Chip Number: JMB38X
Chip Description: JMB38X SD/MMC Host Controller
    Notes: ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/CardReader/Windows/

On opening this last download link, you will start an immediate download of the driver itself.

Hi sorry to bother you hours of searching brought me here. HP have been absolutely useless with helping me on this problem. I notice this is for Device id 0x2382 but mine is Device id 0x2392 which has the same Chip number and Chip description (JMB38X SD/MMC Host Controller) Mine is a bit further down the page but it doesn't have a driver download link just a link to HP for Windows 8 issues.

Can you or anyone else give me any direction on what to do from here?

Running Windows 10 on a HP Folio Ultrabook.

    Thanks in advance.

I've also found the French website, Station Drivers, to be a reliable source for drivers, especially newer stuff that hasn't yet gone public on vendor or OEM websites. Here's their link for JMB38X card controller: JMB38x Card Reader Controller.

I had the same problem and updated the driver by the suggested link. No warning/error is shown again in Device Manager, but windows 10 upgrade process still fails for driver issues. any suggestions?

Did you actually get your SD card reader to work with the link?

No! Inserting sd card makes Windows hang, but it used to work properly before driver install!!

Yeh that's my worry. You do know you can roll the driver back to the previous version installed?

Whats even more worrying for me is ive bought a 2500$ laptop and even HP themselves haven't got a fix for it and that pisses me right off.

Thank you HBHB! I couldn't find a working download link but the file you posted relieved my error-triangle-OCD as well, for an HP Z1 Workstation.
