I've had an HP Spectre 2-in-1 for well over a year now, running W10. I'm a lefty, and for some reason just recently, it has started switching the mouse (trackpad) buttons back to the default orientation almost every time it goes to sleep and wakes up. For whatever reason, it doesn't do it every time, but at least 80% of the time. It's very annoying.
Did the driver recently get updated or did Windows update itself? I would first start by reinstalling the touchpad driver.
I didn't have any luck with reinstalling the driver, but I did find out exactly when it's happening. I have a USB-C hub that I used to connect printers, monitor, scanner, ethernet and audio. Every time I either plug in or unplug the hub into one of the USB-C ports on the Spectre, the mouse button switches back to the opposite of what it was before. Weird and annoying, but at least I know what's causing it.
