IMHO, something is still not right.

Why do you give WDC a buzz? They might know more.
W10 has many idiosyncrasies, for sure.

    FWIW.

That is putting it lightly. I'll figure it out though.

They are probably already high enough! Oh wait, you want me to call them - I'm not entirely convinced their product is at fault or the cause of fault with my system at this point since it works on another system.

I think something is going on in the background with the powers that be since we are due for another Cumulative Update. Oh wait, the last one was on the 12th of this month (or that's when I installed it) - it might be some time before we see another one.

I'll wait for the blow back from that first and see if I have to restore drivers and an image repair.

My drivers that were missing (24 of them) are slowly starting to return as I reinsert my PnP devices one at a time. The drivers went missing because Windows somehow decided it was an ingenious idea to intermix the two USB root hub branches in my device manager as one.

This of course led to the missing drivers problem because I wanted to reinstall the USB root hub(s) to possibly alleviate a bad driver for the WD Passport device. Although the USB root hub was present, its sub USB root hub device drivers were not, and thus led to the missing drivers I discovered in my Driver Easy Pro program.

So, all is well and I don't have a fatality in my system after all.

Considered an open and closed case shut!

    Thanks to all!

    Too many variables here...

I feel confident that If I were to come over your place, I could hammer this out pretty quickly.
Since that's not possible, let us know how you do.

I have it all hammered out, all my drivers are back and I don't have the Driver Error anymore for the WD Passport.

Trust me, everything is on the up and up and I'm confident my computer is healthy and would do fine in benchmark testing.

OK. then please tell me what you have done to remedy the issues, if different from the above posts.

    Be well!

The issue stemmed from a bad USB root hub device (which I removed) listed in the device manager. It reinstalled automatically upon a reboot and my PNP devices just needed to be reattached to the computer to finish device installation of each device.

Windows pretty much did the right thing for once and I didn't have to do anything other than remove the USB root hub so it could reinstall itself.

Yep. That's what I thought (see my posts above.)
    Simple fix in the end.

    Glad to be of service.

Yes, and I believe you did warn me about possibly removing the wrong USB root hub as well. I didn't remove the wrong one, the right one was just fubared.
