    1) There computer has 12 GB DDR3 RAM.

    a) One RAM module is 8 GB.
    b) Another RAM module is 4 GB.

    2) On some HP notebooks the RAM may be easily assessed and on others the RAM may be hidden under the keyboard.
If you do not have easy access there is an owners manual however for notebooks it generally best to get them serviced either by HP or a local computer store.

    3) If you have easy access to all RAM modules then remove all modules and re-seat one module for testing.

    4) Test each RAM module in the same DIMM.

    5) You can run the HP hardware diagnostics for each test to differentiate a good from malfunctioning RAM module.

    6) Alternatively you can run Memtest86+ version 5.01 for 8 or more passes.
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Testing is not done by time but by passes.
The more the passes the better the testing conditions.
A substantial portion of the testing can be performed overnight.
Testing time is approximately 1 - 2 hours / GB RAM.
Just one error is a test fail and then testing can be aborted.
If one or both RAM modules fail then testing is completed.
If both RAM modules pass when tested in the same DIMM then the other DIMM need to be tested.
For each RAM test use a camera or smart phone camera to take a pictures and post images into the thread.

    7) When available please post an image of the available component tests and results for the touch screen.

Fro the pictures, I get the same failure. But all other testes passed. Also I can not see a test for TouchScreen, on the individual tests.
I am not worried about the RAM I can get more easily. I probably have some in a drawer somewhere.
It is the TouchScreen I'm most worried about.
Yes I could take to a HP repair shop, but the repair would cost much more than this unit is worth. There is no data I need to keep. As I have stated above, there is fresh install from a wiped drive.

    5) See if you can find the driver in this folder:
    %WinDir%\System32\drivers
    or
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\capimg.sys

    6) Open services > right click > turn on HID service > evaluate the touchscreen
    Code:

    1) In the left lower corner type update > click check for windows updates > click view update history > post an image of update history, quality updates, and driver updates (skip definition updates)

    2) When available post the results for the individual RAM modules using Memtest86+ version 5.01

Indicate the progress made with the Macrium backup image.

The cumulative update that had failed was able to be installed at a later time.
The Windows updates appear to be OK.

It is unclear as to why the HP BIOS UEFI hardware diagnostics is unable to display a test for touch screen.

The computer model has in its name touchscreen so it would be highly unusual for it not to have touch screen.

It has a Windows touchscreen driver.

This question should be asked in the HP Forum.
How come the HP BIOS UEFI diagnostics is unable to offer a touchscreen test to display pass / fail or to detect touchscreen?
How come there is a Windows driver?
What other testing can be performed?

With regards to the RAM I'm wondering if there is any difference in performance of the computer when it has all working RAM modules.
Replacing the RAM can be done at anytime as long as there is a working RAM module.
See if you can identify the malfunction RAM module either by HP testing or Memtest86+ version 5.01 testing. Then remove the bad RAM module and use just one module.
Then report into the thread if there is any change in performance.

I know this post is old but I found the solution for this exact problem that was happening to me too and I thought I should share it here.

As I said, I had this exact problem, touchscreen wasn't working, it was not appearing in device manager and driver updates didn't work at all.
I have basic electronic knowledge so I decided to open the screen cover to check the connections and the small components located there. I found that the small smd filter for the data lines of the touchscreen (it works like a usb port) didn't have continuity, so I decided to remove it and bridge the connections with two small cables. Here are some pictures. I hope this helps anyone :)
