    No luck, I followed the instructions, before reboot I ran the devfilter tool, and kionix was indeed gone. After reboot, it is back and removable disk drives are still in the forbidden zone lol

    here is a snip of the registry, after reboot. Note: Only partmgr was in there before re-booting, so kionix is being re-installed at reboot somehow.

    att:ComputerGeek;
    you said: So maybe the driver is going to the wrong folder, does anyone know the difference between the "drivers" folder and the "driverstore" folder in system32? It looks like there's kionix files in both folders.

    Just for your information, "the driver store is a trusted collection of inbox and third-party driver packages".

    Also, see this excellent guide about how to manage driver-store by one of Tenforums regular contributors, EdTittel:
    Toolkit Item: DriverStore Explorer (aka RAPR.exe) Win10.Guru

    (This is just for your information in case it helps you help out Josh1).

    Ugh... OK. We uninstalled the driver but (my guess) it's reinstalling using a copy in DriverStore. But first

    1. Try booting into safe mode. Still have the problem? If not, stop here. let me know

    2. Do you have any bootable usb? (you can always create one from friends computer). It's worth testing to verify you can at least boot from UEFI bios. In addition to then verify if usb ports work when boot from rescue media

    3. We're going to uninstall driver again and this time also delete the driver package from DriverStore
    > Create a new System Restore point
    > Download DriverStoreExplorer. Unzip into its own folder. Right click to Run as admin! Rapr.exe
    > Click the Provider header to alpha sort by provider. If there's more then one entry for Kionix stop here and give me a snapshot
    > Otherwise, do the driver uninstall and remove from registry as you did before
    > Next select the kionix driver package in DriverStoreExplorer, check Force Deletion, click Delete Package

    Try reboot again

    p.s. Isn't Windows fun?

    /* EDIT */
    Hey @das10. Just noticed your post. Was just typing out instructions for the tool. Thanks for the xtra info

    thanks again

    unfortunately I come up with this when trying to delete kionix, it errors out. (force delete was checked, it just reverts to unchecked once the error occurs)
