Partition size mismatch between Windows disk explorer and diskpart

Good day and happy new year.

Whenever I create a partition (primary MBR) with diskpart (75GB appears as 74,9GB under Windows Explorer).

    Why is this?

Command used was create partition primary size=76800

Different APIs, utilities, apps read the same underlying numbers and use different display management and rounding techniques to represent them, as shown in this screen shot. Notice also that Explorer converts bigger drives to TB, but that diskpart shows it in GB. All these minor variations lead to the differences you see. No big thing, IMO. You are, of course, free to believe otherwise as you see fit.

Most disk space specifications in MB or above are rounded. There are several different commonly used rounding methods that produce slightly different results. Rounding precision also varies, such as to the nearest GB, 100MB, or otherwise. Such things are rarely documented. Different utilities, even from the same company, may be using different rounding methods. There can be other factors as well.

Thank you very much for your replies. I agree it's not a big deal but I was curious about it.

Yeah, you'd think that because you did the math correctly and set up the partition to be exactly 75 GB, that all utilities would report it as such. But, as you've seen, sometimes it doesn't work out that way. Glad you can accept this! I've gone round and round with others who just couldn't believe that a tool might not produce the output it "should."
    Best wishes,

I have seen Windows Explorer showing it as 74,9GB but Macrium Reflect Free shows 75GB properly. Go figure.
