DVDSetup failed to load hardware monitor driver!

    Hello folks

I did a clean install w10 pro on an extra PC of mine and had some issues.
At desktop try to run MB DVD.

MB DVD won'r run I get message - ' DVDSetup failed to load hardware monitor driver! This program must run as administrator'

I tried Shawn Brink tutorial and I wasn't able to be successful finding Run as Admin selection on any of the options on tutorial to run MB DVD.

I right click on E: which is MB dvd and there is no Run as admin to select.

I open MB dvd and right click Autorun , again no Run as admin to select.

*Open MB DVD and right click DVD Setup application, selected / clicked Run as Administrator, and still get DVDSetup failed to load hardware monitor driver! This program must run as administrator'..I ran as Admin and it still won't run.

Curious as to why did I, and why am I still getting that admin message ?

Why isn't 'Run as Administrator' visible with right click on a lot of things?

    Thanks

    EDIT: win10 v1809

Not a fix for the problem but a workaround.

Most of those DVD/CD's that come with hardware are really not good for much more than using as a coaster. Better option for the drivers is to go and download them directly from the hardware or chipset manufacturer. That way you always have the latest version, and avoid the usually inevitable having to update them anyway.

Is your motherboard an MSI one ? If so, see this site for the reason you may be seeing the message and possible solutions.

Fix: Failed to load Hardware Monitor Driver - Appuals.com

ps: as stormy13 suggested the best alterantive is to directly download the drivers you need from the motherboard maker ( that way, also, the drivers may be more up to date ).

I have never had this (MSI) MB dvd not run on win7 install, or any MB dvd fail to run, for that matter.

I am aware to go to manufacturer for latest drivers.

Wish I knew the answer as to why the dvd won't 'run'

My other PC, an asus Z270 chip, the MB dvd that came with the hardware on that PC, I used that dvd for install, just flashed bios to latest & been running great with OS win7 & win10 for about a year now, using drivers that were included with MB/DVD.

    Thanks!

If it helps any, in 15+ years of building computers (have never bought an appliance PC) I have never used the disk that came with the motherboard/video card/etc. Any drivers on those disks are one of two things,

    1. Already outdated even when the hardware is new.

    2. So out dated that whatever Windows installs is newer than what is on the disk.

About the only time that those driver disks are of any benefit ia when Windows doesn't have a native driver of its own. And even if Windows does have a native driver you can get newer directly from the manufacturer.

I have been building computers for 16+ years and have always used dvd that came with the hardware, never an issue until this msi dvd with win10 .

    back on topic-

' *Open MB DVD and right click DVD Setup application, selected / clicked Run as Administrator, and still get DVDSetup failed to load hardware monitor driver! This program must run as administrator'..I ran as Admin and it still won't run. '

Wish I knew the answer as to why the dvd won't 'run' even as administrator'..

    thanks

Microsoft and HW manufacturer's were always chasing each other's tails, now more than ever. MS changes something in windows and manufactures have to make new drivers and than they change something and MS have to respond. You can never be sure what will happen next. HW manufacturers usually have latest drivers and they have to send them to MS. Original part manufacturer also has better and newer/compatible driver like for instance drivers for AMD based graphic cards and chipsets ware always newer than drivers for same parts form Asus.
