Laptop switching off when power to charge switched on.

Quite often my Dell Inspiron5758 laptop will, when I switch on the power to recharge, turn off. Has anyone any ideas what might be the cause?

Possibly a power spike? Faulty power adapter? Are you using a genuine Dell adapter or a replacement?

Or it could be a fault internal to the laptop.

If you can swap the adapter you'd have a better idea.

I have two Dell lappies, both using identical genuine chargers, so I think I can eliminate that as the cause.
I don't think it would be a power spike, nothing else gives any indication of such. It does look like it might be an internal fault having ruled out the above.
Thank you for your reply, appreciated.

Just a suggestion but have you looked in the Dell user forums to see if anybody else has had this & figured it out?
